The Amazing Race: Cracking Under Pressure: What Went Down in Bucharest

The Amazing Race

On November 12, 2025, leg of The Amazing Race (Season 38, Episode 8, titled “Oh Egg, Where Art Thouâ€)

The remaining six teams arrived in Bucharest, Romania, and faced what may have been one of the quirkiest starts yet.

The first task was a Road Block where one team member had to search a grassy field in Herăstrău Park for a small egg that matched a large decorative ceramic egg, then roll the large egg to an official for verification.

Jas & Jag Bains

Here’s how it unfolded: The team of Jas & Jag Bains (the brothers) chose to use their Express Pass at this very first task, avoiding the egg hunt entirely and zooming ahead. Meanwhile, Tucker & Eric were the first to complete the egg hunt among those actually doing it, making good time out of the starting gate. Other teams struggled with matching and navigating the site: Izzy & Paige actually completed the Road Block more quickly than some, while Jack & Chelsie and Joseph & Adam lagged in the egg-matching phase.

After the egg task, teams traveled onward to their Detour choices. They faced “Find the Beat†(learn and perform a traditional Romanian folk dance) or “Hit the Note†(assemble a pan flute and perform a tune). Tucker & Eric chose the pan-flute route (Hit the Note) and found it tricky. Several attempts were required before approval. Jas & Jag chose the dance (Find the Beat) and, although they had missed the train earlier, they managed to succeed by their fourth attempt. Meanwhile, Kyland & Taylor used their Express Pass at this stage (after holding off), bypassing the Detour entirely, which kept them in contention. Jack & Chelsie continued to suffer navigation delays and transport confusion, which hurt their pace. Izzy & Paige opted for the flute task and did well, while Joseph & Adam picked the dance but struggled to earn the thumbs-up.

Detour

The Detour is complete. All teams moved to the final task before the Pit Stop. At the Green Hours Jazz & Theatre Café, each team had to roll out 10 mici (traditional Romanian grilled sausages). Then each member had to cook and eat one before receiving the next clue.

Tucker & Eric arrived first at the sausage task. They completed it swiftly. Despite their lead, they were edged out at the Pit Stop by Jas & Jag. Their taxi driver found a shortcut and carried them into first place. The final order at the Pit Stop was: first place Jas & Jag; second, Tucker & Eric; third, Kyland & Taylor; fourth, Izzy & Paige; fifth, Jack & Chelsie; and last, Joseph & Adam.

The big twist? Despite finishing last, Joseph & Adam were not eliminated. This leg was a non-elimination leg. This means they survive to race another day, but they are penalized with a Speed Bump in the next leg. That Speed Bump will slow them down, giving the other teams a momentary advantage in Leg 9.

The leg offered a fun mix of cultural tasks (egg matching, folk dance or pan flute, and mici cooking). Alongside strategic play with Express Passes. Navigation and transport remained major stumbling blocks for some teams. The non-elimination twist keeps the tension high as the competition tightens in Europe.
