A Medieval Twist Turns Big Brother Upside Down

Sunday night’s supersized episode of Big Brother 28 picked up in the emotional aftermath of Mallory’s shocking eviction, and the house was already fractured before the newest twist even began. Drew was trying to deal with the consequences of choosing the Icons over his former allies, while Melody was furious with him for lying to her about his vote. Barrett was also struggling with the decision, knowing that the alliance lines had shifted dramatically after Mallory’s departure. With friendships damaged and trust becoming harder to find, the house was already a mess—and then Big Brother sent everyone back to the year 1000!

Big Brother

Instead of competing for Head of Household, the houseguests were greeted by BB legend Britney Haynes and learned that the usual HOH competition had been canceled. There would also be no Power of Veto or BB Block Buster this week. Instead, the houseguests would compete in a series of medieval-themed challenges to earn Stones of Safety and Stones of Sacrifice. The Stones of Safety could protect houseguests from elimination, while the Stones of Sacrifice would force players to remain in the year 1000 and compete again for their survival. Suddenly, nobody could rely on the normal Big Brother strategy of winning HOH, making nominations, and using the veto to change the block.

The first challenge paired Drew and Haley in a competition involving carts filled with crops. The players had to correctly load their carts with the required corn and carrots, turning what sounded like a simple medieval chore into another race against the clock. Drew ultimately defeated Haley, earning a Stone of Safety and the power to give another houseguest protection. That decision created an interesting dilemma because Drew had to choose between helping Angela, who was part of his alliance with the Icons, or protecting Melody, the friend he had just betrayed. In the end, Drew chose Angela, making it clear that his commitment to the Icons was stronger than ever.

Challenge

The next challenge pitted Barrett against Haley and was a completely different test. They had to carry grapes two at a time while walking across a balance beam before delivering them to a wine press. The first player to successfully bring more than 20 grapes to the press would win. Barrett ultimately defeated Haley, earning his own Stone of Safety and two Stones of Sacrifice to distribute. That victory put Barrett in a surprisingly powerful position because he now had a say in who would have to continue competing for their place in the game.

What made the episode especially fascinating was watching the strategy surrounding those Stones. Dee wanted to protect the Icons and was thinking carefully about which houseguests should compete next, while Yash saw the twist as a potential opportunity to finally take a shot at Haley. LaLa and Taylor were both vulnerable, and Taylor was trying to keep LaLa encouraged as the pressure mounted. Meanwhile, Haley had already competed twice and was clearly exhausted.

And then the episode ended right before Barrett made his crucial decision about who would face Haley next! 😩 Of course it did. After taking away the HOH, Veto, and Block Buster, Big Brother apparently decided we didn’t deserve an answer either. 😂

Player of the Episode

Player of the Episode: Drew Campbell. Winning the first safety competition gave Drew some much-needed control after the emotional fallout from Mallory’s eviction.

Oops Award: Haley Thogmartin. Girl, you cannot catch a break! After surviving the block last week, she now finds herself fighting through a medieval gauntlet just to stay in the game. And the episode leaves us hanging before we even find out whether she survives!

A Medieval Twist Turns Big Brother Upside Down

With Barrett holding the decision, Yash looking for an opportunity to strike, and the Icons desperately trying to protect their numbers, this medieval twist has completely turned the game upside down. And honestly? I have NO idea what’s going to happen next—and that’s exactly how Big Brother likes it!
