Dancing with the Stars: Spooky Spins & Surprising Goodbyes: Inside Dancing with the Stars Halloween Night
Dancing with the Stars
Last night’s episode of Dancing with the Stars (October 28, 2025) delivered all the thrills of a Halloween-themed dance night: costumed celebrities, eerie routines, dramatic music and an elimination that left viewers buzzing. The remaining couples leapt into the spooky spirit, each delivering a dance inspired by the theme, and the stakes felt higher than ever as one duo was sent home.
The show featured a range of dance styles and songs tailored to the Halloween ambiance. For example, one couple performed a jazz routine to Green Day’s “Brain Stew,†while another tackled a haunting Argentine tango set to “Bad to the Bone†by 2WEI & Bri Bryant.
Argentine Tango
A standout was the Argentine tango by Robert Irwin & Witney Carson set to “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)†by The Hampton String Quartet, which earned them the highest score of the night: 38/40. Another top-scoring dance was by Whitney Leavitt & Mark Ballas, who opened the night with a jazz to “Brain Stew†and scored 37/40 (9/9/9/10 from the judges).
Amid the high-energy performances, controversy stirred when former pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy publicly criticized current pro Jan Ravnik, asserting that “Jan has absolutely no business being a pro on Dancing with the Stars. There’s zero foundation, technique, quality, or understanding of partnership. It is absurd.â€
Jan appeared to respond on social media by posting a rehearsal photo with his partner Jen Affleck, set to Look What You Made Me Do by Taylor Swift, captioned “I’ll be the actress starring in your bad dreams.†As tensions played out backstage, their performance on Halloween Night didn’t save them. Jen and Jan danced a contemporary to “Look What You Made Me Do†and found themselves in the bottom three.
The unlucky pairings that landed were Jen Affleck & Jan Ravnik. Elaine Hendrix & Alan Bersten (who could not perform live due to injury and were judged on rehearsal footage). As well as Andy Richter & Emma Slater. Elaine’s injury cast a somber shadow over the evening. The couple eliminated was Jen Affleck & Jan Ravnik. Their time in the ballroom ended despite the drama and their valiant effort.
Halloween Night on Dancing with the Stars delivered everything fans hoped for. Thrilling routines, high stakes, unexpected crufts, and backstage drama. As the remaining contestants edge closer to the finals, tonight’s highs and lows may well shape what comes next.
