Big Brother 28 Wednesday night’s episode picked up with Haley settling into her reign as Head of Household, and it quickly became obvious that she wasn’t interested in playing it safe. After making it crystal clear during Sunday’s HOH room reveal that she wasn’t about to welcome everyone upstairs with open arms, Haley spent this episode trying to solidify her plans while the rest of the house scrambled to protect themselves. With three nominees on the block and the Power of Veto up for grabs, the pressure was on.

The Power of Veto competition once again leaned into the season’s Time Trip theme and gave the players a challenge that required equal parts luck and determination. As always, the stakes couldn’t have been higher. The Power of Veto competition took the houseguests back to the medieval era for a game of royal deception. Each round, the players had to decide which goblet to drink, hoping luck would be on their side.

Drinking poison once wasn’t the end of the game, but a second poisoned goblet meant immediate elimination. As the competition progressed, the tension continued to build because every choice carried real consequences, and no one could be completely sure they were making the right decision. The challenge blended suspense with strategy, forcing players to weigh risk against probability while trying to outlast the rest of the field. In the end, Taylor avoided that second dose of poison and claimed the Power of Veto, guaranteeing herself safety and forcing Haley to name a replacement nominee.

Medieval theme

The medieval theme made for one of the season’s most entertaining competitions so far. Between Morgan’s theatrical hosting, the oversized goblets, and the dramatic “poisoning” of contestants, it felt like something straight out of a fairy tale with a Big Brother twist. Every round ratcheted up the suspense as more players accumulated one “poison” strike, knowing a second would send them packing from the competition.

I like this competition because everyone was in the same boat. It wasn’t about being the fastest or strongest. It was about surviving round after round. When every decision could be your last. It created genuine suspense because someone could be perfectly safe one moment and eliminated the next with a single unlucky sip.

When the competition ended, Taylor came through with exactly the result she needed. Winning the Power of Veto guaranteed her safety for another week and forced Haley to reveal even more of her strategy. Taylor has quietly continued building an impressive résumé this season, and this latest victory only strengthened her position in the game. While others have grabbed attention through conflict and confrontation, Taylor continues to let her gameplay speak for itself.

Beyond the competition

Beyond the competition, Taylor also gave viewers a glimpse of the fire underneath her usually calm exterior. When she joked that she didn’t want the houseguests to see how crazy she gets when she’s angry, it was a reminder that there is much more to Taylor’s game than the quiet, composed player we’ve seen so far. Fans may still be waiting to see that side of her come out, but after this veto win, she has definitely earned the right to be confident.

Of course, a veto win means a replacement nominee, and Haley’s choice spoke volumes. She named Lyric as the replacement, making it clear where she believes the lines in the house are being drawn. As the numbers continue shrinking, every nomination feels a little more personal, and this one was no exception. The alliances are becoming easier to spot, and players can no longer hide comfortably in the middle.

What stood out to me most was how much this season has shifted away from flashy twists and toward relationship management. Winning competitions still matters, but managing trust seems to matter even more. Haley may have all the power this week. Every conversation she has is shaping how the rest of the house will view her once that HOH key is around someone else’s neck.

Player of the Episode: Taylor Brown. Winning the Power of Veto while sitting on the block is never easy. Once again, Taylor proved she can deliver when the pressure is at its highest.

Oops Award: Haley Thogmartin. Winning HOH was impressive. But continuing to make the week feel personal instead of purely strategic could come back to haunt her. In Big Brother, today’s HOH is often tomorrow’s target!

As Week Four rolls on, one thing is becoming increasingly clear. The game is no longer about simply surviving another vote. It’s about positioning yourself for the battles that are still to come. And every decision now seems destined to have ripple effects throughout the rest of the summer!
