Big Brother 28: A Last-Minute Save and a Bittersweet Goodbye

Big Brother 28

Thursday night live eviction episode reminded us once again why the BB Blockbuster twist has become one of the most exciting additions to Big Brother 28. Instead of relying solely on the house vote, the three nominees had one final opportunity to save themselves before eviction. With Taylor already removed from the block after winning the Power of Veto, the remaining nominees–Melody, Drew, and replacement nominee Lyric–knew their games were hanging by a thread.

BB Block Buster

The BB Block Buster competition was a bit of an odd fit with the season’s Time Trip theme. Instead of traveling to another era, the challenge was based on the PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie. The puzzle-based competition required the nominees to assemble a two-tiered puzzle that ultimately revealed the movie’s logo. The game was puzzle-based, and nominees had to complete a two-leveled puzzle that ultimately showed the Paw Patrol movie logo.

When the competition came to an end, Drew delivered when he needed it most. Winning the BB Block Buster and pulling himself off the block. It was exactly the kind of clutch performance that can completely change the direction of a player’s game. One minute he was fighting to survive, and the next he was guaranteed another week in the house while Melody and Lyric were left to plead their cases before the live vote.

Hugs all around

After the obligatory hugs all around, it was time for the houseguests to make their decision. Although both remaining nominees had reasons to stay, the votes ultimately fell against Lyric, making her the latest houseguest evicted from Big Brother 28. Lyric’s eviction felt especially significant because she had been part of several major storylines this season. Whether it was her early showmance with Rome, her earlier Power of Veto victory, or her ability to navigate shifting alliances, she always seemed to find herself at the center of the action. Her departure leaves another hole in the house and opens the door for new power structures to emerge. Love her or hate her game, Lyric rarely blended into the background. She gave us competition wins, memorable relationships, and plenty of moments to talk about, which is more than can be said for some players who quietly coast through the early weeks.

I continue to enjoy this season

One thing I continue to enjoy about this season is the BB Blockbuster twist. It keeps preventing the weeks from feeling predictable. Just when it seems like the nominees are set, the competition gives someone one final opportunity to rewrite the script. It adds another layer of suspense to the live shows. Forcing both the players and the viewers to keep guessing until the very last minute.

Haley looked completely dumbfounded that Lyric was voted out, as did several of the other houseguests. I stayed away from the feeds and social media today. So I’ll definitely be looking back to find the tea on how this apparent change of plans came together!

Since the episode ended before a new Head of Household was crowned, we’re left with plenty of unanswered questions. Who will seize control next? Will Haley’s influence continue after her HOH week comes to an end? Or will the house decide it’s time for a major power shift? With alliances becoming more visible and trust growing harder to find, the next HOH could completely reshape the game.

Player of the Episode

Player of the Episode: Drew Campbell. When his game was on the line, he stepped up and won the BB Blockbuster. There is no better way to earn another week in the house than saving yourself.

Oops Award: Lyric Medeiros. It’s always difficult to give this award to someone who is evicted. Especially a player who brought so much energy to the season. But after surviving the block earlier in the game. Even winning a Power of Veto, this time Lyric simply couldn’t escape the vote.

With another memorable houseguest gone and no new HOH yet, the game feels wide open heading into Sunday’s episode. If the first few weeks have taught us anything, it’s that in Big Brother 28, safety never lasts for long!
