The premiere of It: Welcome to Derry was the 3rd highest rating for an HBOMax original series. The first season just wrapped up in 8 episodes. The series premiered on OCTOBER 26, 2025. The series finale answered the question of how the giant alien monster/ spider that landed in Derry became Pennywise the clown to lure children.

Any avid Stephen King fan knows that It is an alien giant spider that arrived on Earth eons ago, by way of a crash landing. The entity feeds off fear and pain.

The series explores the tribe’s ancient history with Pennywise, portraying them as protectors who understood the entity long before settlers, rather than just victims.”This tribe figured out how to keep the entity out of Derry proper. They caged him outside the of Derry boundaries. This tribe had already figured iut the pattern to It. They knew It fed on fear and pain. That every 27 years, It would lure children and cause a major catastrophe. After It fed, it slept and hibernated for 27 years. The tribe was keeping watch to make sure that It never escaped the cage that had been put in place with some sort of black stone that came from the crash site where It crashed onto Earth.
Thanks to the military, Pennywise was released from its prison. Now able to use the Pennywise persona to lure children out of the city. Unfortunately, Periwinkle never believed her father willingly abandoned her. She also figured out how to lure It/ Pennywise out. The reunion she hoped for was not to be. Pennywise/It blinded her with lights, where she went into a catatonic state.

There has been no confirmation for Season 2. Fans are hopeful that since ratings were high, the supernatural drama will return for another season. According to Forbes. In October, director Andy Muschietti told Variety that he and his producer sister, Barbara Muschietti, have much more planned for Pennywise.
Our big story arc involves three seasons, mainly based on the three critical cycles of Pennywise, which are 1962, 1935, and 1908.’
So hopefully, Warner Bros. will at least green-light the 2 additional seasons the Muschiettis have envisioned for the series.
