RHOC’s Meghan King Temporarily Loses Custody of Her 3 Kids to Ex Jim Edmonds After CPS Investigation.
Meghan King, the former Real Housewives of Orange County star, is facing a serious legal setback: she has temporarily lost physical custody of her three children to her ex-husband, former MLB player Jim Edmonds. The change reportedly came after a school employee alerted Child Protective Services (CPS), and an investigation led to a court’s decision that has left King with only supervised visitation for now.

Meghan and Jim were married in 2014 and share three kids. Daughter Aspen (born in 2016) and twin sons, Hart and Hayes (born in 2018). Their marriage ended amid public drama, and by 2021, their divorce was finalised. At that time, they agreed on a joint custody arrangement. Over the years, their co-parenting relationship has been rocky, marked by high-profile incidents and public disputes.
One of the most significant controversies began when Meghan allegedly gave one of her twin sons Ritalin, even though he was not prescribed the medication. According to sources, she reportedly asked the child’s school nurse to administer it, which triggered serious concerns. That school report to CPS prompted an investigation, and ultimately, the court granted Edmonds sole physical custody while limiting Meghan to supervised visits.
Adding more context, a temporary restraining order was put in place after the CPS inquiry, and a hearing is scheduled in December to determine whether this custody arrangement becomes permanent. Meghan was given supervised visitation, reportedly twice a week.
Custody Drama
This custody drama didn’t emerge in a vacuum. Earlier in 2025, Meghan was involved in another dispute at Jim’s home. His current wife, Kortnie Edmonds, called the police. In bodycam footage from that episode, Meghan accused Jim of being “incredibly emotionally abusive”. And claimed he used his name and money to intimidate her. Kortnie later secured a restraining order. Part of it forbids Meghan from being within 150 feet of family events involving the children.
The fallout has drawn reactions from Meghan’s former RHOC castmates. Kelly Dodd, for instance, publicly defended her, saying she knows Meghan “loves those babies” and calling her an “excellent mother.” Meanwhile, critics and observers are closely watching the December hearing to see what happens next.
This situation raises broader questions about parental responsibility, mental health, and the challenges of co-parenting under public scrutiny. Even familiar reality TV personalities can go through deeply personal crises. When children are involved, the stakes are always high.
