Lisa Vanderpump Talks New Cast And New Drama

After more than a decade of whirlwind romance, betrayal, and explosive drama, “Vanderpump Rules” has taken a sharp detour, and fans are reeling. As the series launches Season 12 in December 2025, the show arrives not as a continuation of the old dynamics, but as a total reboot.

The original cast, the people many longtime viewers came to know intimately, have been replaced entirely. Now, the spotlight is on a new group of SUR-staffers. And an older but still-central Lisa Vanderpump, ushering in what producers are calling a “next generation.”

Lisa herself framed the reboot as a kind of renewal, rooted in authenticity.

As she put it during casting interviews: “They were available emotionally to share the vulnerabilities. There are some interesting personal stories here.” According to her, this new cast isn’t some manufactured group of strangers.

The Reboot Offers Real Employees

They are real employees of SUR, people who “have worked here for years.” That, she seems to believe, gives the reboot a foundation in “the restaurant business … their lives and how they work together,” rather than purely for sensational drama.

Still, Lisa didn’t shy away from the fact that this new cast brings energy, youth, and a willingness to stir the pot. Speaking ahead of the premiere, she said, “They’re a wild bunch … a lot of fun, for all their naughtiness and hijinks.” She even admitted that the new iteration is a deliberate “reset”: “We would never try to do the same show again … we’ve done that. We’ve moved on.”

So who are the new SUR-vers? The reboot cast includes names like Marcus Johnson, Natalie Maguire, Shayne Davis, Venus Binkley, Jason Cohen, Chris Hahn, Angelica Jensen, Audrey Lingle, Demy Selem and Kim Suarez.

In the first promotional materials, we get hints of flirtation, early connections and friction! All the ingredients for the kind of drama long-time fans have come to expect.

What The Reboot Model Should Bring

Given the reboot model, the promise for Season 12 seems to be “back to roots” . With fewer heavy real-world entanglements (marriages, deep friendships gone sour, infidelity aftermath).

And more on-the-job dynamics, friendships-turned-situationships, and SUR life. As Lisa put it: “These are naughty, young, funny people living their best life,” and that energy might be just what the show needs to evolve.

But not everyone is sold. Some longtime viewers, and former cast-loyal fans , wonder if a brand-new cast can ever capture the messy authenticity, history, and emotional weight of the original group.

Indeed, the newer cast is starting from scratch: no built-in friendships, no long histories, just relative strangers thrown into a high-pressure environment with cameras. The chemistry  whether electric, natural, or flat  remains to be seen.

As for what’s next: Season 12 premieres Tuesday, December 2, 2025. With it comes a gamble! Can this reboot deliver the same addictive mix of partying, romance, conflict, and vulnerability? Things that made the earlier seasons of “Vanderpump Rules” cultural water-cooler moments! Or will it feel like a hollow imitation of what once was?

For now  under Lisa’s watchful eye, behind the neon glow of SUR, and among a whole new crew  Vanderpump Rules begins again.
