Yash Takes Control

Big Brother 28: Yash Takes Control, and Barrett Gets a Taste of His Own Medicine

The Big Brother house has officially entered its “everybody is coming for everybody” era, and I am HERE FOR IT! After Angela’s eviction Thursday night, the remaining houseguests knew the game had changed. The Icons are no longer running the entire house. Barrett’s big move had finally sent one of them to jury, and the newer players were beginning to realize that they had more power than they may have thought. Of course, the first order of business was finding out who would win the next Head of Household competition.

HOH Competition

The HOH competition had a fun cowboy theme, but it was much harder than it looked. The houseguests stood beneath a water spray and used their cowboy hats to catch as much water as possible. They then carried the water over and poured it into a cylinder, repeating the process until the apple inside floated to the top. The challenge required speed, balance, and plenty of patience because every spilled drop meant more work. In the end, Yash managed to collect enough water to make his apple float in the least amount of time, earning his first Head of Household win.

Yash winning HOH was especially interesting because of the BB Bribe situation that has been hanging over the house for what feels like FOREVER. Thanks to accepting Dee’s $5,000 Bribe earlier in the season, Yash is still restricted from nominating Dee or Devens. That certainly made his HOH a little more complicated, because two of the biggest remaining threats were automatically protected. Yash had to look elsewhere, and there was definitely no shortage of options. With the house divided and everybody keeping track of who betrayed whom, choosing nominees was going to require a little strategy…and probably a whole lot of explaining.

Dee and Devens

Meanwhile, Dee and Devens were celebrating their continued safety, although I’m not sure either one of them should get too comfortable. Yes, they survived another week, but they are still two of the biggest names in the game. The Icons may have lost Angela, but the other two are still standing, and that makes them dangerous. The question is whether Yash is going to use this week to weaken the people who have been targeting him or whether he is going to focus on breaking up another power structure before it becomes too strong.

As the episode continued, Yash made his nominations, and he certainly did not choose the obvious route. Barrett, Drew, and Melody were placed on the block. And OH, WHAT A DIFFERENCE A WEEK MAKES! Barrett had just won HOH and nominated all three Icons, proudly declaring that he was finally taking his shot. Now, he is sitting on the block himself. That is the kind of delicious Big Brother irony that makes this show so addictive. Drew and Melody also found themselves in danger, which means their side of the house is going to have to scramble quickly if they want to keep their numbers intact.

I have to admit

I have to admit, I’m enjoying watching Yash finally get some real power. He has been caught in the middle of so many alliances and deals, and now he gets to make decisions that directly affect everybody else’s games. Of course, the BB Bribe still limits him, but he managed to work around it and put three very important players in danger. Whether these nominations hold remains to be seen, because we all know the Power of Veto can turn everything upside down.

Player of the Episode: Yash. Winning HOH while dealing with the restrictions of the BB Bribe was impressive, and he immediately used his power to shake things up.

Oops Award: Barrett. Sir, you took your shot last week, and now you’re on the block. Welcome to Big Brother!

With Barrett, Drew, and Melody nominated, this week is already looking messy. And honestly? GOOD. Let the scrambling begin!
