BB27: The Queen Takes Her Throne!
Tonight’s episode, aptly titled HoH and Nominations, picked right back up after Thursday’s emotional eviction of Zach. It served up a fresh dose of drama, intrigue, and maneuvers in the Big Brother house. The episode’s heartbeat was finding the new Head of Household… and no one was taking that lightly!
HoH
Morgan and Vince were still visibly shaken: truly, like someone had passed away, after Zach’s departure. Lauren, who was also emotional, seemed steadier. Meanwhile, the scheming was already in full swing. Rachel, who knew her window to play was closing fast, was laser-focused on power this week. She caught Ava’s confirmation of the house’s shift in alliances and instantly made it her mission: win HoH or get out.
And then came the competition: a slasher-themed Head of Household contest worthy of its own horror flick. Imagine 80s prom vibes mixed into a Game of Thrones survival challenge: contestants donned prom attire, had five minutes to study a model of the house and its rooms, and then had to answer which room was safe. If they picked wrong, they were out (figuratively “slashed”)!
Round one saw Lauren, Katherine, Keanu, Vince, Ashley, and Rylie eliminated. Round two trimmed the field further, sending Mickey and Will packing. That left just Kelley, Morgan, and Rachel in the game. Kelley fell next, leaving Rachel to seal the deal. In true Final Girl fashion, Rachel outlasted everyone! Soak it in: Rachel is this week’s Head of Household!
Rachel was laser-focused on power this week.
Once HoH, Rachel could practically taste the power. Mickey, Morgan, and Vince looked immediately nervous; they knew they were targets. Ashley, ever the loyalist, tried to steer Rachel away from targeting Mickey. Vince tried to charm Rachel, but guess what? She saw right through it.
Spotting a need for allies, Rachel reached out to Kelley, who seemed open-minded…until Mickey inserted herself into the mix, spilling that Kelley had told her that Rachel felt Mickey was icing her out. Naturally, Rachel then confronted Kelley, who offered a heartfelt apology. Now, Rache–or any viewer, really–is left wondering: who’s actually in her corner?

Then came the nomination ceremony. Rachel stood up, squared her shoulders, and nominated three players she saw as imminent threats: Vince, Morgan, and Mickey. That’s a power play if I’ve ever seen one!
In short, August 17’s Big Brother 27 episode delivered high-stakes, slasher-prom spectacle with the exact blend of strategy and suspense that keeps the game addictively intense. Rachel reset the season’s power structure, and who she’s aiming at sets the tone for what’s coming next! We must remember to expect the unexpected!
