The Legacy Of Big Brother Canada Lives On
BBCAN first graced our television screens in 2013. It quickly became a reality television favorite worldwide. Some fans believed it was one of the better shows of the BB Franchise. The cameras stopped rolling after 12 seasons, but the legacy lived on.
BBCAN brought several iconic reality television stars to our screens. This started with our host, Arisa Cox, who was a big fan of the show. Neda Kalantar, who appeared first on Season 2, became known as one of the best strategists in the game.
The Legacy

That same season brought us Ika Wong and the iconic letter-shredding twist. Ika returned to our screens in season 5. Season 3 brought us more iconic players like Sarah Hanlon, Kevin Martin, and Godfrey Mangwiza.
Sarah won that season, and her argument with Bruno became one for the books. Kevin brought us a very logical but cutthroat game, both seasons he was on. He won season 5. Let’s not forget our sleeping giant, as Godfrey called himself.
Unlike the U.S. or U.K. versions, BBCAN brought its twists, creativity, and diversity to the forefront. The show became known for its competitions and set designs. The show won several International Awards for set design and best host.
Canada’s version of Big Brother took risky, brilliant, and bold actions, all the while staying true to the original format. Global TV tried to cancel the show after 6 seasons. The fanbase, through petitions and letter-writing campaigns, got the network to change its mind.
Fans tried to find another network to pick up BBCAN after Insight Productions and Corus TV cancelled the show, but could not convince another network. Nonetheless, the Big Brother Canada Community continues to grow.
Fans watch old seasons, follow alumni on social media, and keep conversations going. They hope that at some point in the future, another Canadian Network will pick up the reins, bringing our beloved show back to our small screens once again.
