Drew Gets America’s Vote…and Dee Still Isn’t Buying It!
America’s Vote
Sunday night’s supersized episode of Big Brother 28 picked up in the aftermath of Kamu’s shocking eviction, and the house was anything but calm. While Devens and Angela were celebrating successfully taking out one of the game’s biggest threats, the rest of the house was dealing with the fallout. LaLa was especially upset after being the only person to vote for Kamu to stay, while Mallory and Melody were beginning to realize that their decision to side with the Icons could have consequences. Meanwhile, Yash was absolutely furious with Drew, accusing him of turning against Kamu and following Devens’ orders. The former alliance lines suddenly looked a whole lot less clear.
Yash’s frustration
Yash’s frustration spilled over into a pretty brutal confrontation with Drew. Yash made it clear that he felt betrayed, particularly after learning more about Drew’s relationship with Kamu and his willingness to work with Devens. Taylor and LaLa were also left feeling as though they were on an island after realizing that Drew and Barrett had sided with the Icons to send Kamu home. What had looked like a powerful majority alliance only a week ago suddenly seemed to be developing some very serious cracks. And honestly, that’s my favorite part of Big Brother: watching one eviction completely rearrange everybody’s plans for the next one.
Then it was time for the Head of Household competition, and Big Brother brought in a legend to help with the Time Trip theme. Paul Abrahamian surprised the houseguests and hosted a Viking-themed competition set in the year 851. The players had to navigate a balance beam as they made their way toward the finish. Dee ultimately outlasted everyone else to become the new Head of Household. After watching the Icons survive such a dangerous week, seeing Dee immediately regain power was a pretty significant development.
Dee wasted very little time
Dee wasted very little time deciding what she wanted to do with that power. She nominated Drew, LaLa, and Taylor for eviction, creating an interesting combination of targets. Drew’s nomination was especially significant because he had just survived the fallout from the Kamu vote and was now paying the price for playing the middle. Taylor, meanwhile, finds herself in danger yet again, and you KNOW I am not happy about that! LaLa’s nomination also puts her in a very vulnerable position after she was already feeling isolated following Thursday’s eviction.
The episode also featured the final BB Time Capsule vote, bringing another chapter of the season’s biggest twist to a close. Drew won a prize instead of a punishment, in the form of a Never-Not Pass, meaning he won’t have to be a Have-Not for the rest of the season! He even used the opportunity to try to reassure Dee about where his loyalties really lie. He revealed the Never-Not power to her and tried to convince her that he’d been working with the Icons for quite a while. Dee wasn’t completely convinced, though, because she still had questions about Drew’s two-sided gameplay. Drew basically said, “Look! America gave me something!” and Dee’s response was essentially, “Yeah…about that…”
Player of the Episode
Player of the Episode: Dee Valladares. Winning HOH immediately after the Icons survived their biggest scare of the season puts Dee right back in the driver’s seat. She now has the opportunity to decide whether the Icons continue their march toward the end or whether she takes a shot at one of the players threatening their control.
Oops Award: Drew Campbell. Oh, Drew! He managed to help send his own ally home, irritate Yash, make Taylor and LaLa suspicious of him, and then walk straight into the next week as a nominee. That’s quite a résumé for one episode!
With Drew, La Trice, and Taylor on the block, the cracks in the house growing wider, and Dee back in power, Week Seven is already looking messy. And with Taylor in danger, I will be watching that Power of Veto competition VERY closely. Leave my girl alone!
