Big Brother 28: Well, That Changed Everything

Well, that was a pretty important night in the Big Brother house. After Chuk’s eviction last week, everybody walked into this new week thinking they had a pretty good idea of where things were headed. And then Yash won HOH and basically threw a wrench into everything.

First, poor Haley. Losing Chuk clearly hit her hard, but I actually liked seeing her realize that she couldn’t just sit around feeling sorry for herself. She started trying to rebuild relationships with Angela and Kamu, even though the trust is definitely not what it used to be. Haley is still a little too confident about where she stands, but at least she’s finally playing like she knows she has to fight for her game.

Then we got the Y2K HOH competition

I have to say, Big Brother really leaned into the theme. The whole thing was basically a trip back to 1999, complete with the fear that the computers were all about to crash.
And Yash absolutely crushed it.

He worked his way through the knockout competition, taking out one player after another until it came down to him and Barrett. Barrett buzzed in first but got the answer wrong, handing Yash the HOH. And suddenly, Yash had a BIG decision to make.

The interesting thing was that Yash wasn’t necessarily looking to make the biggest move right away. He knew people were already talking about the Icons and the fact that they had managed to avoid the block for so long. Angela was obviously nervous, and Dee and Devens were feeling pretty comfortable because of their relationship with Yash.

That confidence didn’t last long

I loved watching Dee try to figure out whether she was actually safe. She even offered Yash the $5,000 BB Bribe to keep her off the block, and Yash seriously considered it for about five minutes before deciding that $750,000 sounds a whole lot better than $5,000.
Good call, Yash.

Meanwhile, Devens was scrambling to protect Dee, Angela was trying to convince Yash she wasn’t coming after him, and Kamu was basically saying, “Put Dee up.” The cracks in these alliances are getting bigger by the minute.

And then came the nominations: Haley. Angela. Dee. WOW.

Yash didn’t take the easy route. He put three women on the block who all have plenty of reasons to want him out, and now we could actually see one of the season’s biggest power structures start to crack. Dee in particular is NOT going to forget this.

And of course, we had the BB Time Capsule

America sent Melody in instead of Haley. Melody won…and got punished with Lord of the Latrine, meaning she has to announce every bathroom trip for the next 24 hours.
Honestly, that’s one of those ridiculous Big Brother punishments that makes absolutely no sense but somehow makes perfect television.

Yash winning HOH gives us something we desperately needed: a little uncertainty. The Icons aren’t automatically safe anymore, and the Wolf Pack suddenly doesn’t look quite as solid as it did five minutes ago.

Player of the Week: Yash

I think this one is pretty easy. Yash went from being a relatively quiet player to winning HOH and putting three major threats on the block. That’s a hell of a week. He also isn’t just sitting back and letting the house dictate his nominations. He’s actively trying to break up the power structure.

The one caveat is that Yash is playing much louder now, so I’m curious whether he can survive the attention he’s creating. But for this particular week? He gets the crown.

Oops of the Week: Dee

I love her, but getting nominated by Yash after being so comfortable in the power structure is a problem. And then trying to use the $5,000 BB Bribe to convince Yash not to nominate her? He basically said, “No thanks, I’d rather have the $750,000.”

The bigger problem is that Dee’s game has become a little too dependent on people protecting her. She has relationships everywhere, but those relationships aren’t necessarily translating into safety when she actually needs it. And now she’s sitting on the block while Rick Devens is quietly holding a power that could potentially save her.

Honorable Oops Mention: Barrett
He had the chance to win the HOH at the very end, buzzed in first, and got the answer wrong. That one hurt.

Honestly, Yash winning HOH makes his week even more impressive, and potentially even more dangerous for him going forward.
Now give me the Veto, because I have a feeling this week could get messy. And I’m here for it.
