Big Brother 27: Sunday Night’s Episode: Hang On For A Wild Ride!

Tonight’s episode kicked off with the aftermath of Week 3’s emotional eviction of Adrian, setting the stage for Week 4 Head of Household competition.

The HOH competition was called “Killer Carnival,” where houseguests would be eliminated in a series of rounds. In the first round, the 13 players had to divide themselves into three groups of four, leaving one player out, Kelley. However, that meant that she automatically advanced to the second round. Keanu won that round for his team of four (Rylie, Katherine, and Vince), advancing them all to the next round. He gets to select two players from each of the other groups to eliminate. He quickly chose to knock Will, Ashley, Morgan, and Mickey out of contention.

In the second round, the players had to form three groups of three. As soon as that was announced, Rachel got to zoomies and clasped arms with Keanu, insisting that she’s on his team. She does this in order to ensure that they win together, so that he can’t win again and eliminate her allies. When he tried to argue with her, she said he couldn’t argue with her because she was a legend, which is a classic Rachel thing to say!

The teams became Keanu, Rachel and Vince, Zach, Rylie and Jimmy, and Kelley, Ava and Katherine. This time, Rylie helped secure the win for his group, advancing the three of them to the final round and eliminating the other six players.

HOH Competition Enters Last Round

The last round was a final race across the balance beam maze to determine the next Head of Household. Zach did it in 24.75 seconds, Jimmy failed to beat his score, and then Rylie clinched the win with a time of 17.62 seconds. It was a major win for the minority group of four that failed to get their way last week. Giving them  a long list of options to put on the block as payback for Adrian’s eviction.

Rylie didn’t have time to get too comfortable though, because before he could say, “Who wants to see my HOH room?!â€, it was announced that a mystery power had been activated! The house was told that Rylie’s HOH was temporarily dethroned, and that he would have the opportunity to interrogate each houseguest to decide who the mystery player was. Visibly upset, Rylie threatened the houseguests! He asked for them to out themselves because he wanted this week for his family. Continuing telling them that their ‘ass is grass’ and he will expose them. Before the interrogations even began, Rylie had narrowed his list of suspects down to Ashley, Mickey or Rachel.

Questioning Continues

Vince and Lauren tried to tell Rylie that the likeliest to have it is Mickey, but Katherine, Zach and Jimmy told him they were certain it was Ashley. Rachel spun an entirely different narrative by suggesting that it could possibly be America! She was saying anything to get the heat off of Mickey.

Rylie was most thrown off by his time with Ashley because she spent it smiling and laughing at his threats. Ashley was still smiling when she returned to the living room, which angered Katherine to the point of calling it “rude” that she “smiled the entire time [Rylie] was about to start crying.” Rachel jumped in to defend Ashley and suggested that Katherine needed a “time out.”

When Rylie made his formal guess “after careful consideration” that the mystery player was Ashley, he officially lost his power to be HOH. And Mickey stood in front of everyone to reveal that it was, in fact, her. Rylie accused Mickey head-on of betrayal (“lying to my faceâ€), while she stood her ground affirming she’d already claimed the power. Mickey’s ability to withstand Rylie’s blowback…and then claim ownership of power…shows she has a serious backbone. Rylie’s misstep in guessing wrong casts him as someone who still doesn’t read the room.

HOH Flip With Power

This was the first time we saw a houseguest flip an HOH with a secret power without it fouling up voter math or eviction results. Mickey’s move introduced a layer of unpredictability: now every power standing in the house could be questioned. Even when the competition felt over, the game wasn’t done.

Rylie’s dethroning felt personal.

He’d won the competition fair and square, only to lose it hours later via stealth. That emotional blow transformed him from a poised competitor into someone visibly rattled. It’s clear he’ll have to adjust fast—or risk becoming a target next week. On the flip side, Mickey’s calm takeover shows she’s not just playing the game! She’s setting the tempo! She’s clearly aiming to reshape the house’s power structure, targeting threats and anomalies, and restructuring who listens to whom.
