Hulu Revitalizes Buffy The Vampire Slayer
That’s right, ladies and gents, we will be getting a Buffy the Vampire Slayer on Hulu. It is not a reboot but a revitalization, with the original Buffy, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar-Prinze. Not only will Sarah be in the show, but she is also a producer on the show. IGN disclosed that the new show hs bee, “Described as the next chapter in the Buffyverse, the new incarnation is executive produced by Gellar, Zhao via her Book of Shadows banner, Nora and Lilla Zuckerman as well as the original series’ executive producers Gail Berman of the Jackal Group and Fran Kuzui & Kaz Kuzui via Suite B. Also executive producing the pilot is Dolly Parton whose company Sandollar was producer on the original.â€As much as Buffy fans would love to see the old Scooby gang and catch up on what happened to them, all after they left Sunnydale
Sarah Michelle Gellar had been vocal about any attempt to reboot the iconic Buffy. Deadline reported that Grlllar admitted, “It’s funny, I always used to say no, because it’s in its bubble and it’s so perfect.†But watching ‘Sex and the City’ and seeing ‘Dexter’, and realizing there are ways to do it, definitely does get your mind thinking, Well, maybe.â€
When asked if this revitalization could be a prequel, Saeas proclaimed,†No, it could be anything. It’s a universe. And it makes you realize that in this world, we need those heroes, I think, more so than ever.â€IGN reports that they have found their new star, leading lady to play the vampire slayer, Ryan Kiera Armstrong stars as the new slayer — an introverted high-school student named Nova — in the untitled Buffyverse.
Deadline also revealed the rest of the stars for the show. “Kingston Vernes is the latest addition to the roster, taking up the role of Carson. For now, the reboot only has a pilot order. Vernes will appear in a guest capacity with the potential of a promotion to a major recurring role should the streamer pick up the series.â€
