The Summit keeps finale twist under wraps
The four remaining trekkers are on the last leg of their trek up the New Zealand Alps. Because they are competing for a cash pot of over $750,000 US, alliances come into play. The pot is to be split among those who make it to the summit in 14 days.
The Summit
The terrain of the New Zealand Alps is treacherous to say the least. Trekkers, also , have to deal with the twists of ‘The Mountain Keeper’ along the way. And they, also, have to vote out one player when they make the checkpoints.
Because decisions have been made along the way to leave a trekker behind; it gets emotional. We have seen this happen with Dusty in the past couple of weeks. This week, Becky voted out at the checkpoint. Dusty was left behind when Terron had the sole vote during the trek.
Alliances were made and broken along the way.
Trekkers have had to make emotional decisions during the trek up the mountain. The trekkers have scaled mountainsides, used a rope to traverse dangerous caverns. They have had to face their fears of heights, the extreme cold and snowstorms.
Emotions were high at each checkpoint as one trekker was voted off the mountain. The remaining trekkers may have to rethink their decisions as the eliminated players will return for the finale.
The Summit Producers Make A Reveal
Producers have revealed that the eliminated trekkers will have a part in the finale; but are not revealing what that part will be. Will the finale be like Big Brother and Survivor where the eliminated vote for the winner.
Kevin Lee, show runner, stated “There is no guarantee that we will see the Ghosts of Trekkers past at the start of the season.” Lee told PARADE “We spent a lot of time pre-production discussing the merits of returning the eliminated cast at the finale.”
Continuing he said “We knew we wanted to have a twist in the finale. But we considered many other options before landing on our unique version of the returning eliminated cast twist.” This leaves the fans wondering about how the finale will play out.
Kevin states the trekkers were not told how the ending will play out. Feeling that this will allow the trekkers to be more frank with the eliminations at the checkpoints and along the way. The trekkers will not be deciding their vote to influence the eliminated players.
The producers have leaked one of the twists we will see in the finale. The trekkers will have to use a helicopter long line to cross a ravine one by one. The last trekker will be left behind. This leaves 3 trekkers to make the summit.
Needless to say, Manu Bennett will tell us; along with the remaining trekkers on December 4th when the finale airs on CBS Wednesday December 4th 9:30 PM ET. It will stream on Paramount Plus.
