Caleb Kennedy was a top five finalist on season 19. He was removed from the show after a video surfaced displaying behavior which was against the show’s policies.
He wowed the judges at his audition by singing Nowhere. His choice of song was a brave one as it is an original. Needless to say all 3 judges gave a resounding YES to him.

His last song was ‘Violet Hill’ by Cold Play.
Although his take on the song left fans and the judges in awe. One judge stated, “The song gave me the shivers.” At the time of his elimination Caleb vowed he would regain the trust of his fans.

He stated the video was taken out of context but understood how that would happen. Stating “The video was shot when I was younger and the meaning was lost. I’m sorry. I pray I can regain your trust in who I am and have your respect.”
In February 2022 Caleb was arrested for a fatal DUI. He drove his truck through a garage wall killing the 54 year old man who was inside. Kennedy pleaded guilty to Felony Driving Under The Influence where death resulted.
Caleb received an eight year sentence, along with a monetary fine of $15K. Three years of that sentence will be served under Home Detention. He. also, received a two year and nine month credit for pre-sentence jail time.
Police reported his toxicology report at the time of his arrest showed traces of THC and Prozac. Caleb has a prescription for the Prozac. Police allege he took several hits off a weed pen before getting behind the wheel of his truck.
American Idol airs its seasons on ABC in March 2025. Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie will be the judges for season 23.
