BB26: A timer glitch creates controversy
After a much anticipated wait fans tuned into their television screens to watch part one of Big Brother 26 Premiere. After introducing the first 8 houseguests Julie Chen Moonves allowed them to enter the house.
Timer
Once in the Big Brother House the guests were called to the backyard. Here Julie told them they held the fate of a 17th houseguest in their hands. They needed to vote either yes or no. It was explained that Ainsley needed 5 votes to enter the house.
Those that voted YES voted for an upgrade to their game. Here is where the first controversy of the season takes place. Both Joseph Rodiguez and Makensy Manbeck got 4 of the sequences correct. It should be noted that none of them got all right.
Julie announced that Makensy won the competition; meaning she would get the upgrade.
Fans thought that Joseph beat out Makensy. Taran Armstrong (RHAP) wanted to see who was right, the fans or Julie and production.
Taran replayed both houseguests doing the competition. He also used his own timer. His video posted below clearly shows that Makensy won the competition.
There’s been some controversy over the timer between Joseph & Makensy. Their on-screen timer shows Joseph going faster, but manually timing it shows Makensy edging him out. #BB26 pic.twitter.com/aW7ljSeaMT

Taran announces that Makensy clearly won. He states that it seems production used an unprecise timer on the screen. It also seems that they used a manual timer off screen as well.
With controversy created on night one, fans believe that this could be a very controversial season. Controversy or not we know fans will be tuning in each night the show airs.
Big Brother 26 airs on CBS Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday nights at 9 PM ET/PT. Live feeds can be watched on Paramount Plus and Pluto TV.
