Porsha Williams, star of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” recently made headlines when she filed for divorce from her husband, Simon Guobadia. In a surprising turn of events, Williams has requested that Guobadia not destroy any financial records as their divorce proceedings move forward.
On February 22 Porsha filed a complaint against Guobadia requesting he not “destroy, conceal or alter” any documents relating to their finances.
Mr. Guobadia had been notified that he must “exercise reasonable care to protect and preserve evidence relevant” revolving around the case. This includes all tax, financial, income, and expense records and any other documents that “reflect relevant conduct” by either himself or Ms. Williams.
In addition, Ms. Williams has requested her prenup between herself and Mr. Guobadia be fully “enforced” by the court. The agreement was signed on November 17, 2022, which was days before they were married in a traditional Nigerian wedding ceremony.
They also had an American-style wedding. Porsha stated during that time, ” The weddings were a dream come true. It was all of me and all of Simon represented that day. And all the people who love us and support us were there for us.”
Porsha gave a statement as well for the reason she was divorcing, She said her marriage to Simon was “irretrievably broken.” She wants Simon to be held responsible to pay for all the legal fees during this process.
News had come out on social media concerning Guobadia’s citizenship. It had been revealed that the divorce is “unrelated to recent allegations involving Simon’s past and instead, it is that their divorce is an “ongoing matter.”
On Monday Porsha took to her Instagram stories to thank those who have shown their support for her during this time. On a black screen, she posted, “Thank you for your prayers & support. -PW.”
That same day Andy Cohen spoke out about the couple’s separation as he and Producers of RHOA had no prior knowledge. During his podcast Andy Cohen Live which airs on Sirius XM radio he said, “Wanted to talk a little Housewives news. First of all, Porsha announced last week that she is leaving Simon and I gotta tell you something, I was saying to the other producers of Atlanta when the news started breaking about Simon and some of his immigration issues.
I was like, ‘This is not…’ I was so surprised.” And he also made it clear that this is not related to Porsha returning to the new season of RHOA. “None of us knew any of this was on the horizon and this was meant to be Porsha’s happily ever after kind of victory lap season. So it’s just, I was so surprised and taken aback, and listen, we wanted Porsha on the show for Porsha.”
He also added, “We would take Porsha married, single, picking up the pieces of her life, on high, on low, however, she wants, you know, however, she’s gonna be, but we didn’t know, and this is a big right turn from the story that I think all of us thought we would be telling, so sending love to Porsha.”
The drama surrounding this divorce serves as a reminder of the importance of transparency and honesty in all relationships, especially when it comes to matters of money and assets. As the legal battle between Williams and Guobadia unfolds, it will be interesting to see how these requests impact the outcome of their divorce settlement.
