Ryan Edwards, a former reality television star known for his appearances on “Teen Mom,” recently completed a 28-day rehab program. This milestone in Edwards’ journey toward recovery is not only significant for him but also serves as an inspiration to others struggling with addiction.
On Monday, Ryan Edwards appeared before Judge Gary Starnes in a dress shirt and slacks and not in prison clothes. Prosecutors wanted to hear how he did during his rehab stay, they waiting to hear a negative report. Instead, they only heard positive updates. In a letter from the Rehab Center, it stated that, “We can give him a B plus. That’s pretty good for Mr. Edwards. ” The prosecution said, “Based on that letter, the state would ask, would order Mr. Edwards to go to Oasis. Based on the recommendation from Cadas.” They asked the Cadas rep if he has received any family therapy. “Has there been any family therapy counseling?”
The rep responded with, “Not yet. He will go to family counseling in Oasis.” Judge Starnes responded with, “The letter sounds good. He’s doing really well.
Looks like he’s been drug-free for three months and 25 days. Longest you’ve had in years and years. We’re happy about that. Continue treatment in Oasis. You’re supposed to have a family intervention. Make sure you do that right away.” The state will be notified immediately if Ryan leaves treatment. “He will be in Oasis tomorrow. He’s still in residential treatment.” The rep also questioned the judge about furlough and to that Judge Starnes said, “Let’s keep an eye on the furlough. He seems to be doing really well. Make sure we get this family intervention going right away.”
Both his estranged wife Mackenzie and his child’s mother Maci Bookout did not appear in court to show support.

Back In April Judge Starnes had told Ryan that he needed to get his life together. “He needs to grow up, you know that.
You have three kids. You may have some problems with your wife, but you have three kids. I’m trying to save your life.”
Ryan was sentenced to 11 months and 29 days in Silverdale Detention Center in April. Then he was released last month and entered the Cadas rehab center. He was then ordered to complete a 28-day stay and then move on to Oasis. Cadas provided him with, group therapy, meditation, life skills workshops, relapse prevention workshops, and recreational activities.
Judge Starnes had read over Ryan’s medical records which to him were “disturbing.” At the time he said, “He’s going to need help with underlining things.” The rehab rep said, “We will be making some sort of treatment plan. He can go there and then go to Oasis, the halfway house. They live there. He would also get the injection.” The judge also ordered Ryan to have hair follicle testing to be sure he was clean before receiving the injections. The mention of his contacting his children was also brought up.
Ryan wants to “speak to them.” Prosecution stated that Mackenzie, “understands it’s important for the kids to communicate through him, as they ask about him.” The judge lifted the no-contact order so the children would be able to communicate with him via Mackenzie. Judge Starnes ruling was as follows, “We’ll give you a furlough. It’s time for you to go to the program. It’s your last chance to do this. You need to do what you can. If you violate rehab, if you leave, you’ll be charged with escape and you will get consecutive sentences. You don’t want to spend two to three years in custody if you can get treatment.”
Ryan’s Next court appearance will be on November 6, 2023.
