Sol Yi, Survivor 47, discusses game and tribal
Rome Cooney made the pre-merge game hard on him. He followed him around, and tried very hard to convince others to vote him out at Tribal before the merge. Once the merge happened Sol got revenge on him sending him packing pre-jury.

Once Rome left ‘Lavo Tribe’ became the swing vote.
Sitting down for post game interviews he dissects his moves, his alliances and his final Tribal Council. Fans witnessed a very hectic camp, once Sam informed him he was on the chopping block.
At Tribal the chaos continued, with castaways still trying to figure out who to vote for. When asked why it was so dark when the castaways headed to Tribal. He answered that he felt the producers gave them a little more time at camp before announcing it was time to go.
Feeling comfortable enough at Tribal to not use his ‘Shot In The Dark’ Thinking he had Rachel, Andy and Sam not voting against him. He thought he might survive the vote. Unfortunately for him did not know that Andy and Rachel had already turned against him.
Sol Yi Talks Hindsight
In hindsight he wishes before the vote he had told them “Guys I’m voting for so and so. You can vote for me, because I know you are going to.” Thinking saying this will sway some castaways to vote with him and he would survive.
After finding the secret advantage, he felt using it on Rachel would build trust and he could possibly work with her. He told us that he did not tell her for a day or two he was the one that saved her; even though it looked like he told her right away.
His relationship with Genevieve was rocky. She figured out he was a driving force to get her number 1 ‘Rome’ voted off the island pre-jury. Genevieve got her revenge when she started the movement to gather votes to send him to jury.
Some felt this move was formed from some deep-seated pettiness from pre-merge on the ‘Lavo Tribe’. He feels her making this move on him so early in the jury part of the game, will paint a bigger target on her back.
Teeny and him developed a very interesting partnership that grew. Even though Teeny kept him out of the Aysha vote to him voting out her closest ally, their bond grew. He explained it as a ‘Yin and Yang’ relationship adding she is an amazing person.
Addressing the elephant in the room that being Rome and his relationship in the game and Rome’s comment about how he felt he was belittled by him. He responded “Yeah. I mean, Rome, made my game very, very tough on me.”
Rome’s Remarks
“You heard me say on the show ‘He is either the worst player or he is one of the best players to play the game of Survivor.’ He can make the game very hard on you if he is going after you which is what he did to me. Rome is a tough guy to play with.” he added.
On trying to form ‘Sol’s Secret Angels’ his thoughts were: After saving Rachel he felt he had built trust. After explaining why he wrote Andy’s name down at Tribal, they developed a trust. With Sue they bonded over personal things and both being over 40 something sticking together.
He admitted that he terminated their enrollment in SSA (Sol’s Secret Angels) after the first week. Realizing that the trust he thought was there wasn’t as strong as it could be. His closest relationship seemed to be with Sam who gave him the heads up about the vote.
He ended his interview by addressing his ‘Sol-diers’ fans saying “It means a lot. I mean, you’re just playing a game. You’re just being yourself, and you get this love that is completely unexpected.”
His last words before ending the interview “It just makes me feel good. It’s a very, very warm feeling. It is very loving. So it is a blessing. It’s such a blessing.” What do you think of what he had to say? Are you a ‘Sol-dier’?
