Matt Klotz (BB25) Can He Swim To The Win

Where to begin with Matt Klotz, a 27 year old Deaf Gold medal Olympian from the Deaflympics. Entered the house on Day 1 already at a disadvantage. While CBS tried to be very inclusive and give accommodations where needed it was quickly found that some adjustments were going to be needed. The first few weeks were a little rocky but it all got sorted out and comps were made fair across the board for all players.

Inside the house was still hard as Matt heavily relies on reading lips but was not going to share that with his fellow Houseguests so when in a group of people and multiple people talking it was hard to keep up with conversations. It was in Reilly that he found a true friendship and would stay up late hours of the nights talking and she would fill him in after conversations on the cliff notes so he wouldn’t be out of the loop. Unfortunately She did not last long in the game and then he was relying on others to do that for him, America, Jag, and Blue were 3 that really did a great job of making sure he didn’t feel left out or lost. In the early days you could really see his connection with Jag growing and

they made a final 2 about midway through the game called the Minutemen.

Throughout the season he mentioned multiple times to us the viewers, and a few close housemates how hard it was being in the house with the whispers and side conversations. Even at a disadvantage from the start he managed to always be on the right side of the vote and never be on the block until week 14 when there was a 66% chance to be on the block. It wasn’t until week 12/13 that we heard any talks of the Minutemen maybe turning on one another knowing how strong of a game the other one played. In the last few weeks of the game he along with his Minuteman buddy Jag formed the Mafia with Bowie Jane it was there in week 10 where they Dominated the game trading back n forth winning the HOH comps including Matt getting HOH in week 13. We thought for a hot minute that we would see Jag possibly blindsided and headed out the door until he won POV, Ultimately it was Cirie that would leave that week even though Matt preferred it to be Felicia.

Matt had a very Social game, he played in comps and did well but never really getting too close to a win until he needed to. He did however get both Double eviction POV’s leading to the evictions of Jared and America before getting his own HOH win. There were times that other Houseguests used his disability against him saying he Misunderstood or misheard what was being said, other times houseguest would tell him that his own buddies were talking bad about him and expanding the truth of what was being said. Matt took it with a grace and looked into it without being accusatory.

When he survived the block in week 14 leading into the final 3 triple Comp to determine the HOH he knew he needed the win.

We know from past years part 1 is usually very physical and involves holding onto something while swinging, being dunked, or slamming into things with a liquid involved. When Comp 1 was over Bowie was heard telling Matt “ I can’t think of any one that could have beat you ” referring to Matt having won part 1, which advances him directly to part 3 on finale night where he faces off against Jag winner of Part 2. If Matt can pull out a second win in Part 3 he will have the opportunity to stay true to his word and a 50/50 shot at winning the $750,000 or he could cut his Minuteman Jag and take Bowie where he will have a better chance at winning the money.
