There’s a new docu-series coming to a small screen near you that takes a deep dive into the lives of the Kardashian and Jenner families. The “House of Kardashian” documentary will focus on before and after they were famous, including people in their lives who know them best. Caitlyn Jenner, ex-husband of matriarch Kris Jenner, and Joe Francis friend of the family and “Girls Gone Wild” entrepreneur are included in this intimate look at the Kardashians and how their rise to fame really began. Is Kim the brains behind the success of the Kardashian-Jenner family or was Kris the mastermind?
The family had no editorial control over this series, the way they do with their current show on Hulu, “The Kardashian” or their previous show “Keeping Up with the Kardashian” on E! It’s said to be an “explosive” documentary with never-before-seen archival footage before they made such an impact on reality TV. The trailer of the new series includes a comment by Caitlyn Jenner revealing that “Kimberly calculated from the beginning, ‘How do I become famous?’” and Joe Francis explaining that “The sex tape was a means to an end. It was to create a controversy.” Many say that the sex tape is what made Kim Kardashian’s quick rise to fame possible.
An anonymous female voice in the film says that “Kris wanted to be more than just a housewife” and a second voice reveals that “They ruined the world!” The logline says “No other family defines our time or divides opinion like the Kardashians,” and continues, “To some they are admired as a dynasty of powerful women, inspiring girls across the planet. To others, they are untalented and morally bankrupt reality stars, who are damaging women by selling their life as a superficial fairytale.”
Caitlyn Jenner, father of Kylie and Kendall said “I was happy to participate in the interview process to share my side which points to the strength, influence, and prowess my family has in captivating the world’s attention and keeping it over the years. I am incredibly proud of all my children and stepchildren.” In “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” before Bruce became Caitlyn, Bruce seemed disappointed about Kim and Ray J’s sex video and Kim’s “Playboy” spread. It seems that Caitlyn has come to terms with the controversy and the fame that came with it.
The executive producer of the documentary explained that “As a filmmaker, you might question what is left to reveal about the Kardashian-Jenners — arguably one of the most famously, overexposed families in Hollywood,” but, “Through our interviews with those who have been in the family’s orbit since the beginning, we uncover their personal motivations, and explore how a changing culture allowed their influence on women around the world to thrive.” Love them or hate them, the Kardashian/Jenner family has longevity and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Fame and hard work have boosted all of their bank accounts and all of the Kardashian/Jenner women have come into their own with successful businesses that keep their brand in the public eye.
