Celebrity News: Danny Masterson’s Wife Files for Divorce

Bijou Phillips, wife of Danny Masterson 47, has filed for divorce from her husband of twelve years after he was convicted for the sexual assault of two out of three women and sent to prison. Masterson was tried for a second time in May of 2023 and found guilty after a hung jury in November 2022. The victims alleged that the rapes happened between 2001 and 2003. Bijou Phillips supported her husband until the end and believed him when he said that he was innocent of the charges.

Bijou Phillips 43 is a model, actress, singer, and half-sister of singer Chynna Phillips. Bijou and Danny Masterson share a nine-year-old daughter and Bijou’s attorney has stated that “Ms. Phillips has decided to file for divorce from her husband during this unfortunate time. Her priority remains with her daughter.”  An insider said that “She has had a very difficult time since the conviction,” and still another insider said earlier that she had no intention of divorcing Masterson and “She loves Danny and has no plans to file for divorce. She will be by his side for it all.” Reality changes a person’s point of view, in this case perhaps the shock of seeing Masterson immediately removed from the court room after sentencing and taken directly to jail may have jolted any hope that Bijou Masterson had to stay and support her husband.

Bijou Masterson wrote a letter to the judge ahead of sentencing saying, “We need him more than you can imagine,” and “I know he has been convicted of serious crimes. But the man I married has only been an extraordinary husband to me and a devoted father to our daughter.” It’s sad looking from the outside in that Masterson’s daughter will grow up without her father in her young life on a daily basis, but others have been impacted by his bad behavior and that cannot be ignored or go unpunished. Reportedly Bijou Masterson is also asking for spousal support and full custody of their daughter.
