Jersey Shore, the iconic reality TV show that took the world by storm in the late 2000s, is making headlines once again. The show ran from Dec. 2009 to Dec. 20, 2012. The series follows 8 housemates at a vacation home in Seaside Heights, New Jersey.
In Aug. 2017 MTV offered a 1 time special called Reunion Road Trip: Return to the Jersey Shore. In Nov. 2017 MTV announced they were making a spin-off show called Jersey Shore: Family Vacation everyone from the original cast except Sammi returned.
The news of Sammi ‘Sweetheart’ Giancola’s return to the show has sparked excitement and anticipation among fans. While some may argue that this decision is purely for financial gain or to revive a dying franchise, I believe there are deeper reasons behind Sammi’s decision.
Sammi admits that in the beginning when she first started being on Jersey Shore, she was young and it seems to her that “people forget” that fact. She said ” I did the show originally when I was 22. Being on a TV show is a lot. It’s very hard to go from normal life to being on a TV show.”
Back in 2018, Sammi had several personal struggles which did not allow her to make the return to the show. During her interview with Variety, she said, “I think when the show was just starting up again, I wasn’t in a good place. I was in a bad relationship. I was going through a lot. I didn’t want to put myself in another toxic environment again.”
As the interview continued She added that she was happy to see her former castmates and they had not added to her struggles in 2018. She said, “I feel like I’m in all good aspects of my life. I’m ready to come back. I missed everybody. It had nothing to do with the cast. It just felt like now was the right time to come back to everybody. It had to be the right time.”
Sammi was also asked how she feels about Ronnie Ortiz Magros’ return after a 2 -year hiatus. Sammi said, “At this point, he’s just a guy I dated in my 20’s. We all go through relationships. He’s just a co-worker at this point.” She teased fans with, “We’ll see how the season plays out.” Her current boyfriend Justin May will make an appearance during the season. This will show “a positive aspect. It’s been so long and whether it’s good or bad, at least everybody can see me again.”
Jersey Shore played a significant role in shaping Sammi’s identity and career. Returning to the show allows her to reconnect with her roots and relive those unforgettable moments that made her a household name. It also allows her to showcase personal growth and maturity since her departure from the show.
Sammi’s return to the show could be seen as a way of reclaiming control over her public image. Throughout her time on Jersey Shore, she was often portrayed as dramatic and involved in toxic relationships. By returning now, she has the chance to redefine herself and present a more authentic version of who she truly is.
