It’s ‘Beary’ Hot Out This Summer

It’s so hot this summer that in Burbank, California wildlife is taking advantage of their neighbor’s hospitality. There was a bear sighting on a residential street in the backyard of a home. This particular bear was lounging and cooling off in a jacuzzi soaking up the water on a hot afternoon about 3:30pm. It’s not clear if the bear had permission from the homeowner or just wanted to take a quick dip to refresh and go on with his busy day. The Burbank Police Department released a video saying

“This #bear is beating the heat in Burbank! Officers are on-scene after the bear was spotted in a hillside neighborhood before taking a dip to cool off,”

and “After a short dip, the bear made his way over the wall,” as the bear was clearly enjoying his spa day.

After their Facebook post the BPD warned residents to lock up their food and garbage to deter any other wildlife from entering the neighborhood looking for a free meal and a refreshing spa day on their property. Burbank was under a heat advisory over the weekend which may also reveal why Mr. Bear was trying to cool off just like the rest of his human neighbors. You can’t blame a guy for trying.

Florida has also had some bear sightings in the water “casually swimming in the ocean.” At first beach goers thought that it was a dog, but when it came up out of the water, they realized it was a bear cub as it came onto the shore and made a run to the sand dunes. Witnesses said that “I think most people were shocked instead of being scared,” and “No one expected to see a bear in the Gulf of Mexico.” Seeing the rare sight “A man was yelling out ‘Bear!’ You would expect ‘Shark!’ or ‘Dolphin!’ but not ‘Bear!’ It came out of the Gulf and [looked] tired but relieved,” Climate change is affecting man and animal these days, there’s no where to hide. Keep your eyes peeled.
