Big Brother, the iconic reality TV show that has captivated audiences for over two decades, has produced countless seasons filled with drama, strategy, and unexpected twists. While each season brings its own unique flavor to the table, there are five standout seasons that have left an indelible mark on fans. This writer, in homage to the upcoming 25th season of Big Brother, has decided to rewatch every season to date. In doing so, the top 5 seasons are ranked as follows.
First on the list is Season 2. This season introduced viewers to the concept of alliances and strategic gameplay. The “Chilltown” alliance formed by Dr. Will Kirby and Mike “Boogie”
Malin showcased their cunning manipulation skills and set a precedent for future players as well as bringing a level of excitement to the game not seen before. This was a much better season than the first one and solidified the genre of reality television.
The second-best season of Big Brother, Season 6, is often referred to as “The Friendship vs. The Sovereign Six.” This season was marked by intense rivalries and explosive confrontations between two dominant alliances. It featured memorable players like Janelle Pierzina and James Rhine, who displayed exceptional gameplay throughout. This season proved that the more cutthroat you are, the further you will get in the game. It also cemented the iconic players in Big Brother History as the best of the best.
Season 10 takes the third spot due to its dynamic cast of characters and strategic gameplay. Dan Gheesling’s masterful manipulation earned him a well-deserved victory in one of the most shocking finales in Big Brother history. This season proved that manipulation can get you far as long as you play your cards right. There was no form of manipulation left on the table resulting in a powerful season that is still talked about today.
Season 14 ranks fourth on this list thanks to its inclusion of returning houseguests known as “coaches.” The introduction of this twist added an extra layer of complexity to an already cutthroat game. Bringing iconic players into the game who have been in the trenches to coach “newbies” proved that sometimes strategies that worked before, especially with others who have played the game before in the house, do not always work again. Nevertheless, fans were thrilled to see their favorite players back in the house and were rooting for them to win again.
The most memorable season of all time has to be when the “Cookout” Alliance was formed. Never before in Big Brother history did fans see such selfless play when there was a higher message to be shared with the world. Season 23 celebrated its first black winner. Never before was there such a loyal group of Big Brother houseguests to a particular alliance. It was not only the fact that the alliance was so strong, but how the alliance members plotted the success all the way to the end of the game. It was textbook and worked all the way to the end. And the fans were there for every second of it.
Finally, Season 20 rounds out our top six seasons with its diverse cast and unpredictable gameplay. This season showcased strong alliances like Level Six while also providing memorable moments such as Kaitlyn Herman’s infamous puzzle mishap and the finale night marriage proposal where Swaggy got down on one knee in front of Bayleigh. Even though Swaggy was only in the house for 23 days, she was accepted on national television.
There you have it, these top six seasons of Big Brother have left an indelible mark on fans due to their unforgettable moments, strategic gameplay, and captivating storylines. Whether it be through intense rivalries or shocking twists, these seasons continue to be cherished by fans worldwide.
